Course Outline:

Day 1 - Removable Program with Dr. Michael Scherer

We will cover the removable overdenture portion of course. The course will describe the surgical and restorative principles and techniques related to overdenture therapy including 2 and 4 implant overdentures and maxillary cases. Extensive clinical case demonstrations will be illustrated including videos of surgical and restorative procedures performed by the speaker. Additionally, participants will engage in a hands-on portion for implant overdenture treatment procedures.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand principles, theory, and procedures of full arch removable implant options
  2. Learn the background research and literature related to removable restorative options
  3. Exposure to information related to clinical techniques for removable restorations
  4. Exposure to hands-on surgical and prosthetic techniques

Day 2 - Fixed Program with Dr. Mark Bishara

We will cover fixed prosthesis options including "same day" immediate load protocols, patient selection and guided surgery techniques using the Chrome guide including a hands on component.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the history and rational of immediate loading techniques
  2. Treatment plan and understand the protocol needed including patient selection
  3. Learn and perform hands on the steps required for same day conversions including guided surgery chrome protocol 
  4. Dealing with complications 

 

Dr. Michael Scherer is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Loma Linda University, a Clinical Instructor at University of Nevada – Las Vegas, and maintains a practice limited to prosthodontics and implant dentistry in Sonora, California. He is a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists, has published articles, DVD training series, and full online courses related to implant dentistry, clinical prosthodontics, and digital technology with a special emphasis on implant overdentures. As an avid technology & computer hobbyist, Dr. Scherer’s involvement in digital implant dentistry has led him to develop and utilize new technology with CAD/CAM surgical systems, implement interactive CBCT implant planning, and outside of the box radiographic imaging concepts. Dr. Scherer also maintains five YouTube channels:“LearnLOCATOR”, “LearnLODI”, “LearnSATURNO”,“LearnLOCATOR F-Tx” and “The 3D Dentist” popular YouTube channels on standard and narrow diameter dental implant procedures and digital dentistry.

Dr. Mark Bishara completed his undergraduate studies in medical biophysics, at the University of Western Ontario and was a gold medal recipient as top graduate of his program. He went on to complete his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. Since graduating, he practices in the Durham region with a focus on digital workflow, dental implants, bone grafting material regeneration and tissue regeneration. He currently collaborates with members of the Miron Lab in the United States on tissue regeneration utilizing Platelet Rich Fibrin(PRF). He is a published author on PRF , immediate dental implants and clinical applications. He is the President and founder of the Canadian Implant Dentistry Network, Canada’s largest online implant community. He is on the advisory board of Spectrum Implants, the only peer reviewed implant journal in Canada as the Implants Product Review Editor. He is a key opinion leader and speaker for Neodent, Straumann division.

Dr. Mark Bishara is an active lecturer with the Toronto Implant Academy on dental implants and is a  published author on topics such as PRF treatment and dental implants (full article downloads available on request).
